Care Plus Foundation in

Dickinson University Center for Dyslexia Studies, present their
7th Annual Child/Youth Mental Health
Conference: Social Skill Communication Deficits in Children with Nonverbal
Learning Disorder, Aspergers Syndrome,
and
ADHD.
The event will be held on
Tuesday, April 7, 2009
from 8:00 am
– 4:15 pm
at Fairleigh
Dickinson
University
in Hackensack, NJ.
Social competence is a salient factor in predicting learning and mental health
outcomes particularly for children with neuro-developmental disorders, executive
dysfunction, learning disabilities, and attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder. By understanding how brains
process social information differently we can learn how to intervene effectively
at younger ages. Diagnostic
challenges and strategies for intervention and remediation will be discussed
from the perspective of researchers, evaluators, educators, speech and language
pathologists and mental health clinicians.
The speakers will be followed by a panel discussion with a panel
comprised of: local mental health practitioners, school specialists, and child
advocates. The panelists will
provide concrete tools and local resources for parents and practitioners.
The conference is intended
for school administrators, educators, counselors, psychologists, speech,
language therapists, mental health professionals, parents, child advocates, and
caregivers working with children.
