The Maywood Tennis Club was the site of Care Plus
Foundation’s 5th Annual Indoor Tennis Benefit on January 4th.
Children and adults alike raised a racket to help build a brighter world
for those suffering with mental illness.
The event was a huge success, with all seven indoor courts filled to
capacity.
All
proceeds help Care Plus accomplish great things to help the estimated 1 in 4
people in our community suffering from a diagnosable mental health disorder -
from depression and anxiety, to schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
“Our innovative and effective programming helps over 14,000
clients build a better life for themselves and their families,” said Tara
Augustine, Foundation Executive Director.
“Care Plus programming includes: teaching children life-skills to help
them build strong foundations with our social skills and anger management
programs; keeping kids safe with our child abuse and neglect prevention
programs; creating housing for teenagers who would otherwise be homeless; and
creating jobs for single mothers and those suffering with a mental illness
through our Alternative Work Solutions.”
Special thanks to Marvin Benzing, owner of the Maywood
Tennis Club, for donating court time and gallery space.
The Foundation would also like to thank all of its volunteers and the
event sponsors Delnaz Inc., D/B/A Allied Carpet and Steininger Behavioral Care
Services. Additionally, all of the
refreshments were generously donated by Panera Bread, Edible Arrangements and
Continental Cookies.
