Care Plus Foundation’s Circle of Friends Bring Good Cheer to Local Children and Teens in Need

Paramus, NJ – December 2009

Caring local community members opened their hearts, and brought hope and good cheer this holiday season to children in foster care, as well as older teens whom have aged out of the foster care system and have no family support.  Babies and toddlers in Care Plus NJ’s Healthy Families program also received gifts from these generous donors.

Individual volunteers and local businesses, all part of Care Plus Foundation’s Circle of Friends, donated toys and gifts to fulfill the wishes of these children and teens.  Paramus High School Interact Club, New York Life’s Saddle Brook office, and Weichert Realty in Paramus, with the help of many Saddle Brook moms, hosted gift drives.  Angels Among Us also donated gifts.  Student members of the REACT club of East Brook Middle School in Paramus spent an afternoon wrapping gifts.

Without these generously donated gifts and donation of time, these needy kids might not have had anything to open at all.

“The outpouring of support from our community for these children is overwhelming,” said Christine Driscoll, Care Plus Foundation Executive Director.  “I want to personally thank everyone for their generous donations.”

The children are part of Care Plus NJ’s Visitation Services, which provides a safe place for foster children to meet with siblings from whom they have been separated and biological families from which they have been removed.  Care Plus staff also work with the families to reunify foster children with biological family members.

Older youth are part of Care Plus NJ’s STRIVE for Independence and Homeward Bound Programs.  Both programs work with DYFS involved youth and provides life skill development, housing and comprehensive case management to empower youth to become self-sufficient, independent adults.

The Healthy Families program provides new and expectant parents with in-home education and supportive services to prevent child abuse and neglect.
